Inform People – Real-time elective care monitoring to improve productivity

Implementing a new tool to improve the performance and productivity of elective care

The clinical need:

Inform People (https://informpeople.com/sectors/nhs/) developed THRIVE, a software to monitor elective care activity in real time and allow NHS therapeutic and diagnostic services to take action, identify areas of concern, minimise the impact of administrative tasks and improve productivity.

After initial success across endoscopy elective services in the North West, the company is expanding to other services including diagnostic imaging, to continue to support the delivery of NHS elective services and deliver the productivity ambition set out in the NHS 10-year plan.

Project challenge:

Inform People has been engaged with several potential NHS clients and wanted to refine their offer with bespoke intelligence on the emerging NHS landscape, to strengthen their value proposition when engaging with NHS stakeholders, and understand drivers for the adoption of new digital technologies.

With funding from InnovateUK, Inform People chose Medipex and MAARS for support to deliver this insight and economic modelling to strengthen their value proposition for NHS organisations.

How did Medipex help?

We reviewed current NHS transformation changes at national and regional levels, as well as challenges of local stakeholders, to build up an understanding of how THRIVE could support providers to deliver improved performance against the national targets for activity in the management of elective care in endoscopy and diagnostic imaging.

We reviewed drivers for NHS decision makers to adopt digital technology to improve performance and productivity – including incentives to better perform as well as sanctions for underperformance. A cost model simulating the cost impact of THRIVE software in an NHS hospital or at regional level was developed. We further reviewed current initiatives to promote the use of digital tools to improve performance and productivity, and existing funding attached to these initiatives.

Impact:

The intelligence provided helped the company to adapt its offering/pitch to new NHS customers, target relevant decision makers, and use the cost model to demonstrate potential cost savings to prospective customers.
