Dote AI powered smart baby monitor

The Dote Monitor is designed to provide parents with comprehensive, real-time insights into their baby's well-being. Equipped with a Hi-res 2K wide-angle camera and an AI Imager module, surface and ambient temperature sensors, and humidity monitoring, the Dote Monitor utilises AI to analyse various data streams. Recognising the potential of continuous infant monitoring and AI-driven analysis, Dote wanted to explore how the monitor’s existing capabilities and future advancements could be used for the early detection of critical infant medical conditions.

 

The clinical need

There is a clinical need for earlier detection of critical medical conditions in infants. Timely diagnosis can lead to more effective long-term management and improved prognoses for various conditions. Furthermore, the ability to identify acute episodes as they occur or just prior to onset can enable prompt intervention, potentially mitigating severe consequences and improving immediate health outcomes for infants. The Dote Monitor, with its focus on real-time personalised data and AI-powered analysis, represents a promising avenue for addressing this need.

Project challenge

Dote’s primary challenge was to identify specific conditions where visual and/or audible parameters, the type of data captured and analysed by the Dote Monitor, could serve as reliable indicators. This required a thorough investigation of the scientific literature, market landscape and the potential impact of delayed intervention. The goal was to understand how the Dote Monitor's features could be useful or expanded for earlier medical condition detection.
