Azurian Health: A personalised digital solution to provide continuous support for women in menopause.

Desk research and surveys with women in menopause and health practitioners gave insights on how Azurian Health's solution could solve existing issues.

The clinical need

Menopause affects all women. There is growing awareness about menopause and an increasing number of women in menopause seek medical help to ease their symptoms. However, menopause advice is often very generic and not tailored to the symptoms reported. It often aims to soothe immediate health complaints rather than look at the long-term health prospects. Azurian Health developed a solution which offers personalised health and well-being guidance based on each woman’s condition and needs. It does so by integrating and analysing health data collected from wearables or manually input by the patient. The software is for both patients and menopause clinics to ensure the quality of treatment.

Project challenge

Azurian Health wanted to better understand the gaps in menopause management in the UK.  They were also keen on updating their knowledge about the competition, especially white-labelled software products used in the NHS and private sector. They also asked Medipex to conduct a survey with women in menopause and menopause clinics to understand the appetite for their product.

How did Medipex help?

Desk research highlighted gaps in current clinical practice and the dynamic landscape of menopause initiatives organised by the government and private sector. It also presented a competitive analysis based on a wide range of products with overlapping features of interest. Finally, Medipex surveyed women in menopause and menopause specialists to understand how menopause offerings/services could be improved and whether Azurian Health's solution could solve existing issues. Selected menopause specialists were interviewed to get more in-depth feedback. All interviewed health practitioners offered the company further advice and the possibility to run a pilot.

The project was funded by an RTO grant through Innovate UK Business Growth.

Impact

The competitor analysis highlighted a unique combination of features of the Azurian platform. The project allowed the company to understand the next steps it needs to undertake to increase the chances of a successful adoption. Identified menopause specialists could become future advisors, collaborators and clients.
